Message from the Chief Executive Officer
At ENEC Commercial, we are committed to ensuring the long-term financial sustainability and success of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant project. Since our establishment in 2016, our primary mission has been to manage the commercial interests of the Barakah Plant, securing the financial resources necessary to deliver reliable, clean electricity to the UAE.
Our work is centered around ensuring the smooth execution of key financial agreements, including the Power Purchase Agreement with the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Company (ADWEC)- now Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC). This agreement guarantees the sale of the electricity generated by the four units of the Barakah Plant throughout its lifespan, securing a consistent, dependable revenue stream that supports the Plant's operations and contributes to the UAE's broader clean energy goals.
We also play a vital role in managing the project's financing framework, which includes a combination of debt and equity commitments from both public and private sector stakeholders. With this robust financial backing, we ensure that the Barakah Plant is bankable and operates efficiently, maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and sustainability in all aspects of its commercial operations.
Our focus on financial excellence and sustainability is illustrated through our innovative financing model, which is recognized as a Green Loan Facility, the first of its kind for a nuclear plant in the Middle East and Asia region.
As we continue to manage the commercial aspects of the Barakah Plant, we are proud to continue supporting ENEC in powering the UAE’s green economy.
