ENEC Hosts Stakeholder Forum in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE - 30 October 2019: The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has hosted a Stakeholder Networking Forum in Abu Dhabi City, bringing together representatives from more than 30 governmental entities from across the UAE. Stakeholders learnt about the latest developments on the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program, as well as the latest progress updates on operational readiness preparations by the operating and maintenance subsidiary Nawah Energy Company (Nawah) for the first Unit of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.
The forum provided opportunities for networking, followed by progress updates and Q&A sessions.
ENEC is working to develop the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in accordance with the highest international standards of quality and safety, while maintaining a high level of stakeholder cooperation and alignment.
The latest overall construction of the four units is more than 93%. Unit 4 is more than 82% complete, Unit 3 is more than 91% and Unit 2 is more than 95%. Unit 1 construction is complete and the unit is currently undergoing commissioning and testing, prior to regulatory review and receipt of the Operating License for Unit 1, from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR).
