As part of its on-going commitment to drive awareness and understanding of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program, and as part of the Women in Nuclear (WiN) initiative, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) hosted hundreds of female students from schools around the UAE at its Corporate Headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The event took place on 25 and 26 October.
Dr. Hamad Al Yahyaei, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Curriculum and Evaluation Sector for the Ministry of Education, attended the second day of the event and witnessed the significant interest that young women show towards nuclear energy and engineering. He attended several interactive sessions that focused on promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects among female students, with subject-matter experts conducting information sessions as well as different interactive activities. These included special topical booths for each of the STEM subjects, nuclear energy technology and a fuel assembly scale model.
The Women in Nuclear (WiN) UAE Chapter is part of an initiative to encourage women to pursue education and careers in nuclear-related fields, as well as raise awareness of STEM subjects.
