Training Facilities

We have state-of-the-art training facilities and a robust certification program and cooperate with nuclear operators around the world to ensure the implementation of the highest national and international standards of quality and safety in the operation of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.

The Barakah Plant has highly advanced training facilities, including four full-scope APR1400 simulators. These sophisticated simulators replicate the exact conditions of the APR1400 and are key to gaining operational experience in simulated situations.

These simulators are among the most advanced nuclear training devices in the world due to their complex core modeling and ultramodern instrumentation and control systems. The simulators are used in conjunction with classroom and on-the-job training to teach senior reactor operator and reactor operator trainees the knowledge and skills needed to operate a nuclear energy plant, as well as offering ongoing training for licensed operators to maintain their expertise.

Moreover, The Barakah Plant added a operators Training Center which hosts many advanced simulators and an Orchid IX which is a world class accurate 3D immersion of our plant in a reflective reality environment; whereas users can see and interact with high-value assets (close proximity and far way) at near-retinal resolution.

The enterprise is putting a lot of efforts in investing in digital technology when it comes to digital twin and integrating our 3D environment to various assets; such as the simulators and the Plant Process Information system; hence building a solid platform for future digital transformation use cases; one of which is the integration of the Main Control Room (MCR) and local operator training while using the full scope simulators for the MCR operators and our 3D Virtual Reality classroom for the Local Operators; hence building teamwork and state-of the art training.
