Strategic Roadmap
A focused organization
Following inception in 2009, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) was mandated by the UAE Government to deliver the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program and develop the cornerstone of the UAE Program; the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant - the first multi-operational nuclear energy plant in the Arab World.
ENEC, worked closely with the Korea Electric Power Corporation and several local, regional and international stakeholders to deliver on the goals for developing peaceful nuclear energy for the UAE. Through the Barakah Plant, ENEC is supporting the diversification of the UAE’s energy portfolio, accelerating clean energy transition and leading the biggest effort to decarbonize the UAE’s power sector by providing clean electricity 24/7. Today we have a flourishing nuclear energy industry that is spearheading the growth of a diversified and sustainable economy while also delivering climate solution.
The Barakah Plant demonstrates how nuclear energy can work alongside renewables and gas and support new clean energy sources like hydrogen to deliver a prosperous Net Zero future.
To ensure we deliver each and every component of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program in a strategic, systematic manner, ENEC and its subsidiaries – ENEC operations and ENEC Commercial - have developed the ENEC Enterprise Strategy 2025-2029, which is focused on meeting our strategic themes:
- Maximize future growth potential and pursue investment opportunities across the nuclear value chain and adjacencies.
- Drive the organic growth potential of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Program by fostering expansion and incubation opportunities.
- Preserve, leverage, and monetize program institutional knowledge to strengthen core operations and establish ENEC as a global leader in the nuclear industry.
