Timeline for the Development of the UAE’s Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program
- April 2008 – Publication of the UAE Policy on the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy
- October 2009 – UAE adopts its Federal Nuclear Law
- December 2009 – Launch of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and Prime Contractor selected
- April 2010 – ENEC submits environmental assessment and license applications for preliminary work at Barakah site
- July 2010 – The UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) approves license requests for preliminary site preparation at Barakah
- December 2010 – ENEC submits construction license application for Barakah Units 1 and 2
- July 2012 – FANR issues construction license for Barakah Units 1 and 2
- July 2012 – Pouring of safety-related concrete for Unit 1
- March 2013 – ENEC submits construction license application for Barakah Units 3 and 4
- May 2013 – Pouring of safety-related concrete for Unit 2
- November 2013 – ENEC completes containment liner installation for Unit 1
- April 2014 – ENEC unveils state-of-the-art Simulator Training Center at Barakah
- May 2014 – Unit 1 reactor vessel installation
- July 2014 – Reactor vessel setting for Unit 1
- September 2014 – Pouring of safety-related concrete for Unit 3
- January 2015 - ENEC completes concrete dome for Unit 1 reactor containment building
- January 2015 – ENEC completes artificial reef off coast of Barakah
- March 2015 – ENEC submits operating license application for Units 1 and 2
- June 2015 – Unit 2 reactor vessel installation
- July 2015 – Second full scope APR-1400 training simulator installed at Barakah
- September 2015 – Unit 2 steam generators installed
- September 2015 – Pouring of safety-related concrete for Unit 4
- November 2015 – ENEC completes containment liner installation for Unit 2
- February 2016 - ENEC and Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company agreement
- February 2016 - Unit 1 Cold Hydrostatic Testcompleted
- April 2016 - Unit 2 Reactor Containment Building completed
- July 2016 - Unit 1 Structural Integrity Test and Integrated Leak Rate Test completed
- July 2016 - Unit 3 reactor vessel installed
- August 2016 - Unit 3 steam generators installed
- October 2016 - Financial Close
- October 2016 - ENEC and Korea Electric Power Corporation Joint Venture
- November 2016 - Barakah One Company and Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Company Power Purchase Agreement
- January 2017 - Barakah Units 3 & 4 Enter Next Phase of Construction
- February 2017 - Unit 4 condenser installed
- March 2017 - Unit 3 Reactor Containment Liner Plate and Reactor Containment Building completion
- March 2018 - Unit 1 construction completion
- July 2019 - First batch of Senior Reactor Operators and Reactor Operators are certified by FANR
